    Hey Guys,
    Trying to do a pretty simple script of duplicating a layer and then freeze frame where the playhead is at. Basically, trying to scrub a piece of footage, dup the layer, then freeze frame on any frames that i like. I have to do this a ton of times so was thinking a script could help out. thanks in advance.

    It’s not clear (to me at least) what you want to end up with. Does one frame hold until you get to the next hold frame, or does each frame hold for a certain amount of time, or does the footage play between the held frames?

    Hi Dan,
    One frame would hold for the entire clip. I’m pretty much wanting to create a still frame in AE with out having to constantly dup a layer, and set freeze frame. two actions i’m doing a lot of. also trying to avoid rendering out a still,importing and placing that still. does that make sense?

    Thanks!

    Maybe something like this would help.

    1. Enable time remapping on your footage and add this time remapping expression:

    try{
    marker.key(1).time
    }catch (err){
    value
    }

    2. Scrub the layer until you find a frame you want to freeze and set a layer marker there (“*” on numeric keypad).

    3. Duplicate the layer and remove the marker.

    4. Go back to 2.
