Dumb Question? White Canvas Screen
Can anyone help me with this one. I’ve just been editing away. I thought I’d try and use one of the shortcuts indicated on the menu, this one for closing tabs. It appeared to be ^W. I held down those keys but they seemed to do nothing. Instead I noticed a marker in the Timeline. Not knowing how to remove that I just hit “undo” That seemed to get rid of this marker but now the Canvas remains white unless a clip is in motion. How do I get rid of that white and get things back to where they were? I even quit Final Cut with instructions not to save changes but when I re-opened it my day’s work (not much) was gone but I was still left with this white screen.

I expect you have checked but white screens in the viewer or canvas are often because they are set to display the alpha channel rather than rgb. You select this by clicking on one of the icons at the top of the screen. You may be able to get back your days work by exploring the autosave vault. Good luck. Matt.

W cycles through your Canvas viewing options. As matthew said you have it set to just view the alpha channel. Keep hitting W and your video will come back.

^W means control+W by the way. It doesn’t mean press the ^ key then the W key. Just in case you misunderstood.
