Dude, where’s my transition
We keep getting this:
“There is not enough extra media beyond clip edges to create the transition.”
We have plenty of handles. Anybody else noticed this? When we create to shorten project, nothing happens.JD

We actually opened the project up on an imac and it’s all good. Deleted the app on the machine in question and are redownloading fcpx now. Hopefully that will fix it.
Oh, and, it’s just a regular stock cross dissolve.

Well, that wasn’t it. It works on a new imac, but not a 2010 Mac Pro w/ 5770 graphics card. Bizarre.

Did you trash your prefs? Deleting the app won’t do it.

Assuming you do have enough media beyond the edit, try changing your default transition length in preferences to something like 0.5
I had 0.1 in there, and found X was complaining. Changed it to .5, all good.
