I’m a longtime Premiere user trying to stay current on the technology side of things. I’ve done a lot of research (please no “search google” advice) but I was wondering what the opinions here are about the merits of triple channel DDR3 vs dual channel DDR3? I’ve been running 8GB of dual channel DDR2 in my machine and I’m considering an upgrade (i5/i7) soon. I’ve found that 8GB is pretty good for most of my tasks but when I have Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, and Encore open at the same time it seems like I could use some more memory.

Obviously the increased bandwidth can be beneficial and the i7 over the i5 cpu is a plus but I just wondered what COW Premiere users had to say about this matter. Thanks!

    My Current System:
    Core 2 Duo E8400 (@3.6 GHz)w/XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 cooler
    GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775
    G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4830 512MB
PC Power and Cooling S61EPS 610W PSU
    Lian-Li PC-V2000 full tower case
lots of drives + LG DVD burner
    Sunbeam fan controller
    Adobe CS4 Master Collection

Dual chnl or three chnl DDR3 is determined Mobo architecture, the type of cpu, cpu socket/chipset used, LGA1366 is three chnl, or LGA1156 is dual chnl, the three chnl has higher bandwidth compared to the two chnl, here is a 3chnl link, includes a pointer to 2chnl
