When you have dual displays, Mavericks wants to treat each screen as a single full screen desktop, rather than as one extended desktop that spans both screens. For example, you cannot leave a window or document parked in the middle of both screens and have it stay visible on both once you let go of the mouse. Is there any sort of preference setting that overrides this behavior, so that it works like it did in 10.8.5 and before?

Never mind. Found it. In the Mission Control prefs you have to disable “displays have different spaces”.
