Dual Projector Stereo 3D
Posted by Rick Turners on January 7, 2012 at 1:30 pmI’m pondering the idea of building a 3D grading suite.
One option is to get a single JVC RS65U, view the 3D in SBS.
What would be the details of setting up a dual projection setup (say 2 RS65U’s) ? Wouldn’t I need a special screen among other things?
Would love to hear any thoughts.
Thanks!

January 7, 2012 at 4:17 pmYou don’t need a special screen to setup a dual projector 3D system but you do need to be able to align the two projectors exactly which can be difficult to do without losing allot of light output. You would just have to feed the SDI outputs (L and R) to each projector and add polarization to each such that each projectors polarizer matched the polarizer in the glasses. I really don’t understand why you would want this solution over using a 3D capable projector with active glasses.

January 7, 2012 at 9:58 pmYou need a special screen that retain polarization, like silver screen from stewart or dalite…
Pasive 3d is better than shutter, you have less headache and a lot more light output. I think rs35 can be better for dci. But rs65 is eassier to adjust convergence. I recommend you to try screen fabric before buy, i really hate silver screens.

February 11, 2012 at 3:00 pmHi everyone. I have a question. I read and I have researched how that can make a 3d stereo system that uses passive polarized glasses with 2 units Optoma 3D-Xl. I understand that this is possible. I had some concerns and questions. I would be very grateful if someone could answer them.
1. First and most important question is how to set the two projectors to result a 3D image? How they placed? At wath distance one from another? Optoma 3D-Xl unit has a standard image to be displayed on screen to help you easily set projectors for 3D view?
2. Want to use a 6 meter diagonal screen Spectral 240 from Harkness Screens and the two Optoma projectors HD20LV. Do you think is a good combination? Can recommend another projector that is the accessible target price that Optoma HD2-20LV?
Any advice or recommendation is welcome? Thank you very much.
I thought the following system. If you have another idea please tell
– Sony BDP-S780 3d BluRay player.
– Sony hdmi cable 1.4
– Yamaha RX-V871 which has 2 HDMI out (or a splitter to split into two 3D signals), you can recommend a splitter 1.4?
– 2 sony HDMI cable 1.4
– 2 Optoma 3d-XL.
– 2 hdmi cables do not know if there is important at this stage they are 1.3 or 1.4?
– 2 projector Optoma HD20LV FULL HD ( if have another recommendation is welcome).
– Two circular polarizing filters.
– 6 meters display Spectral 240.
– Circular polarized glasses.
