I’m trying to learn how to shoot video and have purchased a Canon GL2 with a shotgun mike attachment. Here’s the dumb question – when I need to mount an off camera light it would go into the same hotshoe that the mike uses so… do they make a dual mount that fits into the hot shoe? Or what is done at this point? Thanks.

Go to the Canon web site and do a search for the MA-300. It mounts to the GL2’s advanced accessory shoe for recording with 2 XLR microphones. This adapter includes a shotgun mic bracket and a shoe mount on the top of the adpater for your on-camera light. I have one and it works great.
