Dual Monitors
Hi —
I have a 17″ Macbook Pro. It’s got what looks like an Apple ADC connector on the side. Will this allow me to hook up a second monitor for FCP or AVID dual-monitor editing? If not, how would I go about using two monitors? Thank you!

NEWER MacBook Pro? Might be Mini DVI. But yes, it will allow you to do that. Just make sure you have the proper adapter to connect.

Newer MacBook pros have a “mini-display port”. The ONLY monitor I’ve seen with this connection is the new LED cinema display. I’ve seen graphic cards for pc with display port, but not mini.

It’s an older 17″ with the 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. It’s definitely not a Mini DVI connector, but I guess it’s the DVI connector and not the ADC (it’s got 8 rows of pins, not 10.)
So are we saying if I connect a monitor via the DVI connector, I’ll have dual monitor capability, or will it just be another monitor mirroring the laptop monitor?

Should give u the option of either mirror or span…in display preferences
