Dual Monitors FCP Question!
I have one 23″ Apple Cinema Display that i have been using for the past year for editing using FCP 6.
I have bought a 32″ Samsung LCD TV set, which i would like to use as my 2nd monitor. Here’s the catch, my Samsung LCD TV set is positioned away from my work station and is not visible when i am in front of my computer. If i drag the “Canvas” window onto my Samsung LCD TV i need to leave my workstation to see if the “Canvas” is visible on my Samsung set. This is a problem because i cannot see where my playhead is, on the timeline. Do you see my dilemma. If there was a way to have 2x “Canvas” windows one on my Apple Display and one on my Samsung TV.
If anybody knows how to solve this problem please let me know.
i use the Samsung as my TV, so that is why i cannot have it at my workstation.

There is a huge difference between a Computer monitor and a television set.
If you want a second Computer monitor, get yourself a Dell or something similar.
As far as monitoring your video, you need some type of TV set. You also need a way of getting the signal from FCP to your TV set. One way is via firewire. If you are working i DV, a miniDV camera or deck will work. Other options are Blackmagic or AJA cards and the Matrox MXO.

You need to go in to your system preferences and click displays. Then click on the ‘Arrangement’ tab and then click the little mirror displays button.
