    Hi, I have a macbook pro (2.4 ghzIntel core 2 Duo) and an external monitor (acer). I have edited with this dual monitor set up for a while. Recently however i can longer view what i have dragged into the timeline as it won’t play, but simply flickers between between a couple of images, even after i’ve rendered it.?

    Weird because audio plays back ok. Also if i export the footage, once exported it plays fine back in FCP on the timeline?

    Baffled! Anyone with any suggestion?

    Hi,

    I had an issue with an acer monitor outputting from a macbook, turned out it was a dodgy cable.

    In display does the acer show up as acer “model” or as generic display.

    If it shows up as a generic display it could be that, apologies that it’s a bit vague but that’s the only thing similar to this I’ve had.

    Si

    If you have a MBP 2.4 from the late 2007, your computer may be eligible to get a new video card for free;

    https://www.apple.com/support/exchange_repair/macbookpro.html

    My MBP had the same symptoms untill went black.
    Apple changed the video card or the mothereboard free.

    I have this exact problem, I have a late 2008 macbook pro, with a Samsung syncmaster p2050 set as a dual display. When in final cut I have just the monitor window showing on the monitor, I edited something this morning just fine, no problems. But I’ve just started a new project and when playing back on the time line it flickers between 2 frames from the shot. It’s not the monitor and it’s not the cable..
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
