Activity Forums DaVinci Resolve Dual-link SDI 4:4:4 – external scopes?

It has loop through. But I’m not sure ScopeBox support dual-link, nor do I have two SDI inputs on that Decklink.

The monitor support 3G, have yet to figure out how to make it show correct colors.

i would go with ultrascope then.

1 3g to monitor one to ultrascope.

Although the Ultrascope supports 3G, it doesn’t support 444 RGB over 3G. it only uses 3G for 422 at higher frame rates. I’m sort of stuck in the same position… there isn’t a great and inexpensive option for 2K resolution or 444 RGB scopes… I could use a 2K > 1080p scaler to deal with the ultrascope being limited to 1080p, but the 444 is a little harder to sort out.

Ok, somewhat good news. My friend Leo chimed in to say “loop through with one of the channels should work”. All though I’ve populated the scopes with pixels, I’m not completely sure it’s correct, since the input is only showing “half the image”.

But at least I can check the luma.

3g is not half the image ? it just has less resolution in color steps ?

    even with 422.

Sorry for being unclear. I’m on dual-link 4:4:4 now. The other card won’t go with 3G.

Nevermind my previous post. I’m not making sense now. Too tired from an already too long day (even though it’s not even 5!)

We gotta find a way to figure this one out, guys. 🙂

How about the internal Resolve scopes? I believe they are 4:4:4 and just the cost of a second monitor. Otherwise there are a number of actual 4:4:4 scope solutions but I think some sticker shock applies..;-)

I think that one is around $10k…

I was using Ultrascope but stopped using it and put a second display on Resolve for the feature I recently graded and find the internal scopes to be ok…

I still have the Ultrascope and have put it on a telecine suite. I think is is a good basic 4:2:2 scope but it is not everything I would want in a scope for DI work.

Maybe BMD will eventually get around to doing a software update, hopefully after looking at some other hi end scope solutions.

The hardware supports 3G in which makes me wonder if it could eventually become a 4:4:4 capable scope.

Unfortunately, to my experience that comes with a cost: performance.
