  • Dual Layer PAL burn-Can’t find marker

I have a client in Israel that needs a PAL DVD. I’ve tried many different ways but keep getting this error message:

    Formatting failed
Formatting was not successful. A suitable marker could not be found in the required layer break range. See the DVD Studio Pro User’s Manual for more information.

I’ve looked all over the manual and cannot find anything about this problem.
I have track direction set at OTP, Break Point set at automatic, and seamless is not checked.
Can someone help me understand this suitable marker?

    Thanks!
    Jeffrey

there is no chapter marker in the valid range where the layer break must go. You need to add some chapter markers for DVDSP to choose from.

Thanks for the reply. Where would I find the place to do that?
I apologize for my ignorance, but this is a bit out of my league, but I want to learn more.

You have to figure out about where the 1/2 way point is on your disc and play Chapter markers before and after that. THere is a pause at the chapter break so you need to keep that in mind as you choose the chapter markers. Like you wouldn’t want the break/pause to happen in the middle of a car chase. Once you figure out which one will work you can delete the others if you wish.

Hopefully you’ve all found your answers. I’ve just spent best part of several days trying to find my way through the dual layer burning problems.

at https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/dual_layer_media_gary.html there is the BEST explanation I’ve yet seen.

BIG THANKS to the people who put up that document
