Dual image importing – Vegas 12 Pro
Hi I’m a Vegas nube – so if you assume I know nothing you’re probably on the right track! I did do a forum search before posting but didn’t find anything that seemed to address my problem which is essentially this:
I want to import image sequences for a left eye and a right eye and get Vegas to display and render them in a stereo format.
The initial file format is png. I can bring them into the media library no sweat but I can’t find a way of telling the program to treat them as left and right eye of the same stereo image. Yes I have set the project properties for stereo images.
I then used a utility to combine my images into mpo files and used the dual streams option in Vegas on the import media requester. I selected top and bottom half as my display option in the image sequence media properties. (I also have top and bottom selected in my project properties. ) However, the result is that the program displays in preview the first stream in both top and bottom.
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong or perhaps direct me to a tutorial on the topic?

I created a new project, okayed the stereo imagery, set it for anaglyph (r & c), brought a 3d photo into the media library, ticked the use the second stream option, dragged it into a track and hey presto it did as required – displayed in anaglyph in the preview window. Hoorah at last!
I then bought in a single frame from my frame sequence – again it showed as anaglyph in the preview. Excellent!
Finally, I brought in a frame sequence – 100 images only. Unfortunately, like yesterday it only displays the first stream in the preview and only uses the first stream if I render it. (And yes I did double check I had the use second stream selected.)
At this point I declare myself officially perplexed. Any ideas anyone?

I get to answer my own problem – woohoo!
There I was looking up info on importing images and image sequences when the resolution was found in info pertaining to manipulating imported video files. A classic “manual” stumble where by page “x” assumes you know what is on page “d”! Never mind, lol.
Anyway the solution is to pair subclips. Select the 2 streams in the media library window then right mouse click and choose the “Pair Subclips” option. As with most things easy once you know how.
Now onto the next problem…..

What is your version of Vegas?
Vegas Pro 12 allows you to pair all your images as stereoscopic 3D subclips (place them on two video tracks, select those tracks and choose “Create 3D subclip” command from context menu).
Vegasaur also has Pair as Stereoscopic 3D subclips command
