I’m having some trouble getting a DSR-11 to record output of a rather long piece (95 minutes) to a DVCAM 184 minute tape. Repeated “camera failure” is the error message. Will the deck take a crash record (REC/PLAY) with the “activate recording device” checkbox off. Don’t know much about this deck. Just used for dv capture.

    TIA

Do you have any way of previewing what is coming out from the DSR11? I have dumped over 2 hours of footage on DVCAM and have not faced a problem so far.

    Hi and thanks for answering.
I went through the menus again. Can see bars and hear tone through the deck. But, machine control is still not kicking in after rendering the audio.
    The deck sits unmoving.

The DSR-11 does not move when I run Premiere. So I close it and open Sony Vegas. The deck works when running Vegas capture. Close Vegas, then I open Premiere and the deck responds. Problem with the firewire protocol requiring a reset? Peculiar.

Check your settings to make sure you are selecting the proper device control.

1394 and the DS-11 are correct.

Do you have another program on your system that is capable of outputting to the DV Deck?

Did the output through Vegas. Worked as advertised.

If your device control is set for Sony DSR-11, then something maybe corrupted, I use a dsr-11 and have no problems, you might try resetting the “Plug-in Cache file”(contains preferences) just start premierepro while holding down the shift key, just remmember any custom preference setting so you can replace them.

That did it! It’s working fine. Many thanks.
