DSLR Mic Recommendation
Greetings,
I’m shooting short interviews with a 5D Mark II and am looking into quality affordable audio
Have been steered towards 2 mics
Zoom H1 ($100)

https://www.sennheiserusa.com/professional_wired-microphones_camera-mics_502047I know they’re apples and oranges (omni vs shotgun) but I know little about audio. Basically I want to know if it’s a good idea to go w/ the H1 or if the Sennheiser’s a better price point for the quality.

Hello David and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.
Of the two devices you choose, one is a recorder and the other is a microphone.
The DLSRs have not gained themselves a very good reputation for audio quality. Following that line of fact, ANY mic you stick on them is not likely to yield very good results.
The Zoom H1 is a toy.
Everything depends on your intended use. Maybe you could let us know more about that.
