    Hello,

Basically I had a Rode Video Mic Pro however recently I lent it to a friend whose dog ripped it to shredds!
And so need to buy a new mic, I have a budget of around £200 ($280) and not sure what to buy…

I could just go with another VMP but also looking at the NTG4+, however I currently don’t own a handheld recorder and don’t have the budget for both atm…

What would you recommend? Is a NTG4+ straight into a camera (I have a Canon 80D) compared to a VPM any good quality? Or what other mics (/recorders) would you recommend for my sort of budget

    Thanks in advanced
    Isaac ????

    Hello Isaac,

Different horses for different courses. A lav on a talent will probably sounds a lot better than an NT4 clamped to your camera. Rig a boom, locked down or otherwise, with the NT4 no more than 18″ from your talent and the NT4 will likely win.
