DSLR compositing into S16 footage
Hey all,
I’m going to be doing some keying and compositing for a student film in which the production shot some scenes on a stage with some green screen windows using a super 16 camera at 24 fps which they’d like to replace with plates they will shoot on a 7d.
The dp mentioned that itd be advisable to shoot at 30p instead of 23.98 so we can pull down to true 24–is this true? My understanding is that I’ll be working with telecined s16 footage that is actually at 23.98 avid 1:1, and if we do a film out I’d have to export a 24fps version of an fx shot from AE, but otherwise all my deliverables will be for tape and live in 23.98.
Does that make sense/any other advice for matching dslr footage with super 16?
Thanks all
