Drowning in compression problems…
So glad I found this forum, and saw the guys post ahead of mine. FYI we are complete noobs when it comes to compression/codecs etc..
Computer:
We have a new iMac (OSX version 10.6.8)
-for which we have Final Cut Pro X & the new compressor that works with it.
Also, have a souped up PC running windows 7 (ultimate)
-With the adobe CS5 Master Suite (not 5.5)Source codec:
Filmed in HDDestination codec:
HD… 16×9Type of destination use:
World wide distributor of dance lesson videosSo above are our specs, resources and needs.
To give you a break down though… We have been using the new FCP-X to do our editing, then exporting to quicktime file. We then tried using the new compressor on the iMac, but it does not seem to do a darn thing. So we then tried moving the files to the PC and using encore to transcode, which works fine when the file is small enough to go onto our FAT32 formatted drive for the transfer. But with our larger files (nearly 8gb) we would prefer to compress them to fit on a single layer DVD. Plus transferring them for some reason to the PC (via network & exFAT) we are losing quality, bad.
We really need a good solution to compress on the mac.
Thanks so much for any help-
