  • Dropping frames while capturing from miniDV Cam.

I’m trying to capture some footage using Premiere Pro 1.5 and it keeps dropping frames.

I’m using a miniDv Canon ZR400 (NTSC) on a PC with 1Gb of Ram, 2.6Ghz processor, through firewire 400.

I’ve checked every possible cause I could remember of:
    – Checked the specs of my hard drive and its more than enough
    – Turned off the preview while capturing and still didn’t work
    – Tried connecting the camera through the external HD and save the footage in it

The most akward thing is that I managed to capture footage with the exact same PC but with a PAL miniDV cam and
    it did’t drop any frames.

Anyone got any solution for this?

I appreciate the attention on this matter.
    Cheers

Download a free program called Windv: https://windv.mourek.cz/

Premiere capture is picky on a lot of things, including fragmented drive, whether you a using a master or slave drive for capture, and what program is running in the background, including antivirus.

Windv buffers the capture and I’ve never had a dropped frame since.
