I have a new 8-core Mac Pro, with a PCI e connected CalDigit 4TB raid 5, and I’m working with Snow Leopard, FCP Studio 3, and ProRes 1080i. When playing the time line, it stops and I get the message: “Dropped Frames.” Also, couldn’t find anything on the Cow that resembles this problem/setup.

The CalDigit has the latest updates, and by the AJA speed test, is writing: 343.3 MB/s and reading: 409.7. It is only about a quarter full. I have also turned off “Unlimited RT” and I don’t have any other sequences open. This is puzzling. (I haven’t received the latest Disk Warrior for Snow Leopard yet to check the directories.)
The 20 hours of footage I’m using was captured with the old 8-core Mac Pro, and Leopard 10.5.8. Is this the problem? I’m thinking of recapturing everything. Say it isn’t so.

Have you tried fixing permissions in Disk Utility?

    David,
When I had was having dropped frame, i was going across some Boris text which was over picture and some of the picture had earlier been shifted. Somewhere in the distant past, I believe I had read that Boris had caused some problems. However, it was a Boris crawl according to my memory. Has anyone had a problem with Boris? This is my latest suspicion re: dropped frames with a fast computer and super fast raid drives.
