I am trying to digitize video into my computer and I keep dropping frames. I’ve tried a different camera, different tape, new IEEE 1394 cable, defragmenting the hard drive, and uninstalling unneeded software. I’ve never had any problems digitizing before. Any ideas?

    Most likely a computer problem.
    Turn off Virus scanning.
Check the Health Status of your drives…
Right click on “My Computer” and choose “Manage”, expand “Storage” in the left pane and select “Disk Managment”…look in the right pane for “Status”.

    I have the same issue.

I found that I can not capture frames-dropped-free to my only 7200rpm media drive — it’s an external 1394 drive. I am experimenting with this:
Capture to a 7200rpm internal SATA or ATA drive
Transfer the files/footage to my external 1394 drive
    Edit from the external 1394

A short test (<5 minutes) worked two nights ago.

    Good Luck,
    David
