As I’m sure this is a very common subject, I’m hoping someone can direct me to a thread/forum/site that deals with this. I’ve always had a very slow time on the feature I just finished (80 minutes, shot on 24p) but just attributed that to the size of the project. However, dropped frames have occurred on a regular, annoying basis on some shorter projects I recently worked on (a combination of 24p video and film). I’m trying to fix the problem and also improve FCP’s performance.
Thanks for your help ahead of time.

I just ran across Larry Jordan’s site. He sends out an fcp newsletter and this months issue contains a section on setting prefs for optimum performance. https://www.larryjordan.biz/nxltrs/nxltr_d17.html

I have not tried this, and don’t know if I will because my system seems to be running smooth for the most part.

    Hope this helps,
    Gary
