Dropped Frames On Vid Capture With Webcam Please Assist! (Vegas Platinum 9)
The fact that I am using an older version should have no effect.
I have an updated system with 3 SSDs that run fast (to the tune of 265 MB/s) and I’m getting dropped frames when I capture video through my webcam. I can’t find any real information on the web about this other than ensure DMA is on for your hard drive (which is irrelavant b/c I’m using SSDs).
I literally catch maybe a FEW frames and end up sometimes with over 200 dropped frames in a matter of seconds. My webcam is HD (Lenovo X220 Laptop). I have 3 internal drives, all SSD.
What am I doing wrong?

Is your anti-virus software trying to read all the data as it is captured?

I don’t think so, but how can I check for this? Yesterday I disabled AVG Anti Virus while capturing and was still getting dropped frames.

Getting dropped frames from a Webcam capture is not a surprise,

Thank you. I just purchased a 2008 Model Xivia HV30 Camcorder with firewire and an Expresscard for my laptop and will use this. Hopefully I will not have the issue with so many dropped frames and better quality.
I have a 2.4 GHz i5 processor and 16GB of RAM. Hopefully this will suffice. I want to record skype conferences at HD broadcast quality.
