    Hey guys,

I went out shooting 4k HD on my RED and came home to transcode it to ProRes 4444 in FCP 7. After I was finished transferring, I watched the clips and a good portion of them had dropped frames which gave me a warning and would cause the clips to lag horrendously. How can I save a future ingestion from dropped frames with this setup?

    Best,
    Petr

A very fast RAID would help our situation. Without out it, expect dropped frames.

Thanks Steve. I’m going to look into a new RAID drive that is much faster.

You’ll need a 4-5 drive RAID 0 or RAID 5, with over 200MB/s for ProRes 4444. I think that the CalDigit VR connected via eSATA will get you 220, but you can’t fill it up beyond 70% to keep that rate.
