Dropped frames for no obvious reason
Hi, I’m still using Final Cut 7 (bit stubborn…) and it’s been working fine, but I’m starting to encounter dropped frame issues and it doesn’t really make sense why. I’m using the same kind of footage (with the right codecs e.g. Apple Intermediate / Pro Res LTT) as before — I’m using the same hard disk as before (I’m currently editing on the main drive instead of an external) basically NOTHING HAS CHANGED but for some reason I am now lagging like crazy and getting dropped frames. Has my project gotten too big? I don’t understand. Here are my system specs
Mac Pro / El Capitan
Processor – 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 8GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics – NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MBI’ve tried deleting my final cut preferences. I’ve tried every possible variation of the RT settings there is. I’ve tried copying the project into a new sequence. I’ve tried restarting/turning the computer off (that USED to work?) I feel honestly like I have tried everything and it’s STILL SLOW.
In desperate need of help,

that’d be my guess as to what the problem is.
how much free room do you have on the drive?

go to Final CutPro>User Preferences>General and unchecked three options
1-Report dropped frame during playback
2- Abort ETT/PTV on dropped frames
3- Abort capture on dropped framesI hope it will help you
