  dropped frames after reinstall…

  Interesting. i did a fresh reinstall of everything last week, and triply-partitioned a system drive as per David Roth Weiss’ great article for (3) OS/FCP options, and all is well (quite well, in fact – thanks, David!). But in FCP, i have several sections on my timeline (1080i Pro Res) where i have two tracks playing, both shrunk down. All the HD footage is playing off internal drives 2&3 RAID 0 (this was done before the Weiss system drive setup with no changes), yet if delete one of the two video clips in the split screen, the system bogs down and says there were dropped frames. Putting the second clip back, and the two play fine (though with a green “to be rendered” bar on top). So, oddly enough, two shrunk video clips are playing better than one…which seems backwards to me. Any idea why this might be so?
