Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy dropped frames

I recently purchased a new iMac – 3.1 Ghz processor with 4 GB hard drive. I’m working on a project with stills and lots of filters and effects. The project is about 3 minutes in time. I’m getting a dropped frame message quite often while working on the project. I have unchecked in user preferences the selection that warns when a frame is dropped, but that has not helped.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. Perhaps the compressor?

    Thanks,
    Pam

Is your scratch disk the system drive? Media shouldn’t be on the system drive

If not then how is the external drive connected

Thanks so much – that was it. All my hard drives were elsewhere, so yes I started the project putting everything on the hard drive. Reset the scratch, and it worked like charm….thanks so much.
