  Dropped frames

  Been pulling my hair out with this one – wonder if anyone has some advice….

  I have a 1920 ProRes sequence containing some dv clips that have been re-sized. There is no green render bar, suggesting the clips should play in real time, but I constantly get dropped frames. This happens to me a lot – in other circumstances too – is the render bar an unreliable guide for expected performance? Any thoughts gratefully received!

  8 core with 8 gigs RAM
  Sonnet E4P SATA with 4 drive array (showing well over 300 M/s read speed)
  FCP 7.0.3
  OS 10.6
