  Dropped Frames

  Ughh. I know this has been covered here a million times, but I’ve never seen a good answer to my problems.

  Setup:

  XSAN 1.4/XRAID 14 drives
  G5 Dual 2.3 10.4.9 / 2 Gigs RAM / Kona LH 3.4 drivers / FCP 5.1.4 / QT 7.1.5
  MacPro Dual 3Gig 10.4.9 / 4 Gigs RAM / Kona LHe 3.4 drivers / 5.1.4 / 7.1.6

  So I get a lot of failed PTT/ETT’s on the G5 system above, usually with DV timelines. I just had a show that failed PTT 5 times in a row. I then PTT’d the show from the MacPro with no problems. I can understand that the Macpro is a more powerful machine, but I think a G5 should be able to handle DV without dropping frames.

  The G5 also drops fames in capture, especially with uncompressed SD.

  Where’s my Avid? I miss my Digital Cut.
