Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy dropped frames

Just double checking: When printing to video, my One Hour and 50 minutes timeline is probably dropping frames every 15 minutes because hard drive and three external LaCie 500g drives are pretty much maxed out. I’m assuming after reading several threads that my LaCie’s, at full capacity, just aren’t up for the job. But if there are any other possibilities, I would sure like to know.

Working on a G5 quad 2.5 GHz, with 10 audio tracks, most of my effects/graphics have been exported and reimported as single stand alone qt files, but dropped frames seem to occur over a simple fade, or for no reason at all.

Working in NTSC with clips captured from DV.

Is there anything else that might be causing it? Anything I can do? Printing a clean master on tape is sort of essential.

If you’re still playing back 10 audio tracks while printing to tape try doing an audio mixdown first and see if that solves the dropped frames problem. I’m assuming you’ve already rendered any audio transitions or effects.

    Hi,

If your disks are maxed out as you say, even transitions are defragmented if you render them.
Is it the final movie you are printing to video?
If so, you could delete unused material and use the free space to defragment your drives,
    Use Terminal or https://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7380

How to find unused media: select your timeline in the browser, use the apple + F and search for “unsused media”

    Good luck!
    Andreas
