My friend had his limo stolen, but the security camera has some footage of the crooks. I can brighten up the video but I lose the audio in both Premiere and after effects. The files are 4fps, Indeo Video 5 compression, 192kbps audio 16 bit mono.

In Premiere when I drop the .avi files into the timeline, the audio strangely wnats to go to audio 4 channel, my other .avi files drop normally.

If I preview the clip in Premiere, the audio is there, once in the timeline the monitor preview or rendering loses the audio.

The original fooatge plays fine in quicktime or in Windows Media player.

Play the files in Windows Media Player and while playing, record the audio using Audition or your audio recorder. Save those as .wav files and sync up to the video in Premiere.
