I started a new wedding project (actually my first in Vegas – Vegas Pro 9.0e). Started with one video/audio clip to open (about 15 seconds) then added a music track with a few overlay titles over another video track with a texture background. A total of 9 A/V tracks at this point. Everything fine so far. Now I added a new video track with 2 audio tracks (L&R audio) (CTRL+SHFT+Q, CTRL+Q) and when I drop any new video/audio clip in, Vegas crashes. I’ve tried several other clips. Same thing. These clips drop in OK in a brand new projects timeline. Any clue as to what might be going wrong and that I should look at?

Being new to Vegas, is Vegas prone to creating corrupt files during capture? (I hope not.) I don’t want to get too deep in another NLE that I have to “piece” together many smaller segments just to make it work. My system has the power to handle HD editing.

The last simple single A/V track project went without a hitch. But most of my projects will be a lot more complex with several audio and video tracks. I would thing Vegas could handle this.

Thanks for any direction or help as 80% of my projects will be at this level.

    Two things to try:

    1) Import the clips into the Vegas Media library and then drop into your timeline from there (instead of dropping on timeline directly from Windows Explorer). See if that works.

    2) Does it crash if you start your project off those those clips which are currently crashing Vegas, and then copy/pasting the other clips into the new project with those two clips? Eg, add the clips in reverse order to see if that makes a difference.
