  Drop Shadow for Video

  In Ps, it is straightforward to open and RGB image with transparency, create a drop shadow, delete the image, and save just the drop shadow as a file with transparency. Is it possible to do the same with an AVI video? I feel this would be of significant benefit in compositing (probably back in AE). Thanks.
