  • drop shadow effect on moving shape oriented along the path

    hi All,
I’m animating few shapes along the curvy motion paths.
I want to change the Drop Shadow effect in all of them simultaneously, so I set up Global Controler layer with Drop Shadow effect which then copied and pasted with relative property links to all relevant layers.
Now all is fine and I can change the Drop Shadow angle, distance etc in my Global Control layer and it effects all shape layers.
Problem is with the ones with “Auto-Orient along the path” on, then the shadow is oriented along the path too.
Question: how do I update the expression to have this “Auto-Orient” ignored by the layer with it on?
    Thanks
    Dorota

If you can use the Drop Shadow layer style instead of the Drop Shadow effect, the shadow will not be affected by the layer’s orientation to its motion path.

If you can click the Collapse Transformations option on the layer without messing up how it looks, the drop shadow will respect the angle.

thanks for the advices.. what I noticed was that I percomposed my shapes for some reason and when I copied shapes from precomps back to the main comp the shadow was fine on the shapes but anyway thanks for advices will check both layer styles and collaps transformation! AE is way too complicated sometimes ????
