Drop Frame/slowness issue
Been working out of fcp7 on a new project at my office on (2 x 2.66 ghz dual core intel xeon) Mac 10.6 . Standard ntsc 3:2 settings. I’ve been running the project off of a lacie drive and it has been working fine.
I brought the project home to work off of my laptop, which is a brand new mac book pro. I have fcp 7 on it as well. The only thing I had to do is re render the work because the render folder was on the main hard drive at my office (rookie mistake).
I actually didn’t end up changing any settings or anything in the project, in fact, I didn’t even work on it, I just opened it.
Today back at the office – I opened the project and it is unbelievably slow. It can only play back for 3 seconds before i get the ‘extreme dropped frame’ warning in red. Even opening the project took a long time.
To test if it was the project/drive or if it was the disk, i opened up a different project from a different drive and it worked fine. I tried to copy the work onto another drive but once it hit the rendered folder, i got the ‘item xxxxxxxx could not be copied’ and the transfer stops. I’m running out of options.
I made no changes to the settings in either the project nor to the disk.
Any suggestions on as to why and how to fix this?
Best,
Mike[If I delete any changes that were made ‘yesterday’ (when the project was opened from my laptop) like autosaved, rendered, etc, will that solve the issue? Or would this make it worse?]
