I am trying to conform a drop frame EDL and I see the option to choose drop or non-drop when importing the EDL but I can see no option for designating drop frame on my imported clip. I have a long MXF file of a complete show and no way to preconform it to my EDL. Any ideas? Is this just a big oversight by Black Magic? I can\\\’t be the only one here doing US television, which is all drop frame. Am I missing something? Please help.

    Thanks,
    Dean

You should read Robbie Carman’s Drop Frame workaround post from a couple weeks ago. He outlines how he’s been using FCP to generate NDF EDLs from the original media to work around this issue.

Thanks Walter. I read that when it posted but I felt the need to post about this issue again in hopes that BMD would chime in and shed some light on whether they are fixing this problem soon. Jumping through hoops for what should be a standard workflow is vexing to say the least.

Agreed! I certainly hope that this is very high on their list…

I’m also really surprised at how few people seem to be doing 29.97 work. I would have thought this would be a big issue for a lot of people here.
