Oh how I love AJA – let me count the ways. And I didn’t even speak to anyone from AJA – but I keep notes on everything Moses (Rudy) says to me.

Mac Pro, AJA Kona 3, 3 different types of Storage – Apple XSAN (Apple FC card), Maxx Digital Final Share (ethernet), and internal 1TB drives in the MAC Pro. Everything was working fine, and yesterday drop frames/stuttering started. So you say “it’s the drives”, or “it’s a corrupt project”. It got worse today, so I went in. Test all three drive solutions – all are fast or super fast (like Fibre based XSAN), but no matter what – drop frame errors, and stuttering before the drop frame error occurs.

Trash FCP preferences, no change. Trash AJA kona preferences, no change. Abandon project, digitize new material (ProRes422HQ at either 720p or 1080i) – new project, new sequence – no change.
Abandon FCP, and go into AJA TV – its STILL dropping frames, no matter what – if you use XSAN (Active Storage fibre array), Maxx Digital Final Share (EVO Expando) or internal Hitachi 1 TB SATA drives – drop frames no matter what.

What could it be – so I pull out THE BIBLE (all the notes over time that Rudy has sent me), and I delete the Quicktime preferences, and com.apple.quicktime stuff in the Library/Preferences folder, and BAM – problem is gone.

THANK YOU AJA – where would I be without you.
