    hey guys-

I am working on my first NTSC project and I guess so far everything is well, other than the fact that we got few clips of PAL and I’m really worried how they are gonna look after the conversion
    my question is
I had my project all the time set on drop frame and I never had a problem till today, I digitized 2 tapes out of three that were shot on same day, same am same cameraman.. I had no problem digitizing the first two but when batch capturing the third tape i got he message that i am capturing non drop clip to drop clip !!!! and if I continue that may cause problem with the ins and outs or relinking master clips

i really don’t understand that could… so how do I tell if the media was shot drop or non drop ? and what if I have mixed media

Drop Frame time code= Time code that matches the clock (a one hour drop frame sequence is actually one hour)

Non Drop Frame Time code=(it does not drop frames so one hour of non drop time code is actually longer than a clock hour)

When delivering a tape for broadcast it should be in DROP FRAME TC to represent exactly how long it will play (second will be cut off if you use NON DROP)

Camera’s can record either DROP or NON DROP and 24P material is generally all NON DROP. it does not matter how it is captured and has nothing to do with the FRAME RATE.

What matters more is your sequence timeline. You can relog those clips to specify DROP (; Semi colon) or NON DROP ( : colon) between the second and frame numbers IE 10:00:00;00 id DROP. 10:00:00:00 is NON DROP.
