Drifting Sync
Hi all-
In a nutshell here it is….cutting a short (5 minutes) piece (DVCPro HD). Footage digitized fine and is cutting fine…HOWEVER……several times yesterday the audio and video became out of sync. A restart of the system fixed it but it’s a bit disconcerting. Sound like a preferences thing perhaps?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In your user preferences, did you deselect the option to stop and warn you when you drop frames on playback? That could certainly account for it.

Try the occasional mixdown render before you play back.

Hi Dominic,
This issue is a known one (to me) since fcp 6. I usually works on 25fps but it might be in all the rates. some time when you import sound file to fcp it comes in the wrong frame rate. what i usually do is start fcp with only one new clean project, set it up with easy setup to the frame rate desired, bring the sound file in, put it on the time line and check that it is the right frame rate in the viewer, if its right, open the project that you work on, copy/paste. that’s usually works.
