The issue that I was running into is not exactly the multicam feature in FCP…The show that I am working on, is multicam, and I am syncing it by placing one cam on top of the other and aligning them by the slate. I find that the HDV cam drifts. All of the HDV tapes were digitized via firewire, so I did a couple tests to see if that was the issue. I digitized a clip through the AJA Breakout box, however I couldn’t get timecode because the deck I was using did not have a 9-pin controller. I tried syncing that clip with the HD Cam of the same scene and the clips stayed in sync…
So that makes me wonder if there is an issue with digitizing with firewire????

Are you capturing the video using the native codec or the intermediate codec via firewire?
