Drawing on a photo in Movie Studio Platinum 9
I film some of my hunting experiences and was curious how to draw property lines on a photograph during the video. I started by keyframing an aerial photo and zooming into the appropriate area. Once zoomed in i want the property lines to appear. I tried taking a snapshot through the editing program and changing it in Windows Paint and then put it back into the project, but Paint always saved a much smaller picture.
I’m sure there are other ways of doing this but i don’t have enough experience to get it figured out. Is there anyone out there that could help me figure out how to go about doing this?

When you’re taking a snapshot, make sure to set your Preview window to Best/Full as this gives you the maximum image size and quality (655 x 480 in NTSC).
If you want to draw property lines over the video, you’d be much better off using a different program than Paint as it doesn’t give you the option of saving an image with an alpha channel.
This allows only the lines of your drawing to be visible.
If you don’t have something like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, GIMP (a Photoshop alternative) is a free open source paint program that can do this for you. -

I did get it to do what i wanted after i changed the preview pane to best/full. Made my changes to the photo and put it back into the project and it works fine now.
Thanks for the tip. I didn’t realize the preview size would make a difference even when saving a picture.
