Please help! I’ve always wanted to know this and never found out.

Say I have a composition that’s 20 frames long. And I drop into a video layer that’s like 8 minutes.

What’s the quick way for me to go to a later point in that video? Because I’ve just been dragging and dragging.. and if the comp is particularly short, it takes ages to move that video file along.

Double click your video file in the Project window so it opens in a new Footage window. Scrub to where you want to start and set an In Point (alt+left bracket, or option+left bracket on a mac). Now drag the footage layer from the Project window to your composition and it will start where your In Point was set.
