  • Dragging clips from TL to KW Collection

    Hi,

following Question: Something I did use a lot in FCP7 – I made a selection of clips in a Keyword Collection, then dropped all those clips into a TL,
did some rough assembling, filtering selection of the best ones. Now I want to drop all those from the TL back into a new made KW Collection.
This was a no Brainer in the Legacy Version.
How can I do that in X?
And if I can do it, can I then make Proxy/Optimised Versions, only from this selection?

    Thanx.

    Greetz,

    Sascha

You do that in the browser not on a timeline.

Usually, yes, but for that particular workflow, I needed first to work with it on the TL.
So it’s not possible to either drag clips from TL to Keyword Bins?
And also not possible to convert this specific selection alone to Proxy/Optimised Files?

    Thanx.

You can do this, but it’s a couple extra steps from 7.

    1. Make an Event, import your footage.
    2. Make a timeline, drop the stuff you want into it, do whatever it is you need to do in this timeline.
    3. Make a smart collection and have it only show “Used”. Make your new keyword collection in the same event as your footage.
    4. With your timeline open, click the “Used” smart collection, select everything and drag it to the new keyword.
    5. Select everything you just put in your new keyword collection, right click, “Transcode Media”, choose to make Optimized or Proxy (or both).
