I don’t really use AE with DPX files much. Usually it’s Shake. I am doing some de-noise filters in AE. How can I pass the DPX files through AE without affecting the colorspace? My problem is something is happening in AE with the rendered DPX files that is prohibiting me from roundtripping those files between FCP and Color.

are you interpreting the DPX’s and is AE setup for color management,32bpc? and are you using the log to linear DPX plugin with rolloff set to zero and full range on?

Color management is off. I have the project set to 32bpc. I am not (nor do I want to) doing any conversions. I am working with Gluetools and FCP and I am letting that plugin do the loglin conversion.

I may be off, but what I want to accomplish is basically “pass through” the properties of a DPX file with an effect added. Is that possible?

Strange…I just discovered a weird quirk in the FCP – Color – FCP roundtrip! If a DPX stack doesn’t have a “REEL” name, but others in your sequence do, then XML transfer will fail. My issue wasn’t related to AE’s workspace at all!
