    Hi Guys,

Im having a hard time figuring out how can i reconform DPX shots (having an EDL) into FinalCut. I tried using gluetools for my DPX so that I can pu it in FCP and can still have source timecode. But the thing is, Gluetools just import the DPX( i guess it just uses a ref file and link to the original DPX),right? Is there a way where I can link or should I say data conform in FCP, or reconnect media using gluetools? is there other way I can do this? or it is still not possible? Hope you guys can help me. By the way I use Nucoda Filmaster for grading and so far it only outputs DPX(we still haven’t upgrade our systems yet.

    Cheers!

    yes
but however how are you getting the DPX files back? if they are properly conformed (in folders?) based on the Nucoda output, with the new version of GT you can just point to the first frame of each seq of frames to relink the footage and the clips reconnect correctly in my experience.

I highly recommend GT to anyone that is working in a frame based workflow.

Thanks for the reply sir but I need some clarifications. How would I re-link the footage? Using Reconnect Media of FCP? The Nucoda outputs everything in folders. There is no problem importing the DPX, i just use File-import-gluetools dpx seq. but it just imports everything. my main problem is actually re-linking it from my EDL. Where should i go to do this? I just downloaded the trial version of GT CinDPXProFCS2_v3.0.2a. Is it the right version? Thanks a lot.

    Cheers!

it sounds as if you have never used an edl in FCP, and there seems to be a couple of big holes in your info-
What was the projected edited on first?
Where is the EDL from the Nucoda or your editor?
DId you start this project as video or DPX?

first off you need the FULL version of Gluetools if you work in DPX files in FCP.

Import the EDL into FCP 6 first.
Relink via the Reconnect cmd – to the first frame of the appropriate DPX folder for each clip. ( that is assuming that Nucoda returns the finished DPX files in individual subfolders based on each clip separately (I have never finished a project from Film Master so correct any mistakes here )

GlueTools v3 then takes over- finishing the linking for the clip from the selected DPX file and yes you have to do it for every single clip.

there will be some things that have to be done manually – checking the timeline for issues and correcting any errors in the naming

What was the projected edited on first? – FCP
Where is the EDL from the Nucoda or your editor? – Offline Editor
DId you start this project as video or DPX? – Video

I think, I started to see what you mean by your questions. I guess we should start my project on FCP with DPX, am I right? My problem with that is that I will have a very slow workflow because I need to render everything whenever I edit my clips. Can GT make an offline QT files?

Will I still be able to use gluetools even if we didn’t started the project on FCP? I’m an online editor by the way and normally someone else offline edits the project.

By the way you are right that Nucoda exports it’s graded files in folders.
