  downshift after multi-processor render

  i’ve got a 8-core mac pro (2007 model) w/ 16gb ram, running mac os 10.5 and AE CS3.

  when i do a render in multi-processor mode, and stop the render, AE seems to take at least 20 minutes to stop doing what it’s doing before i can go back in and work with it. my machine sounds like it’s reading/writing something to disc. i thought that might be the disk cache, but even if i delete my cache folder myself, AE still spins my computer’s hard drives.

  why does AE take so damn long to downshift after a render is stopped?

  curious.
