Downscaling 4k footage to 1080 question
How do I get my cinema 4k sequence (4096×2160) to be 1080 in the 16:9 ratio without losing any of the image or cropping?
When I scale it down to fit I’m obviously left with the thin black space on the top and bottom. If I scale it to fit I’m actually cutting out some of the footage on each side.
Is my only option to create those black bars on the top and bottom? Would rather not do that.

You’ve only got two options, which you’ve already discovered:
1) scale until it fits vertically (cuts off some of the horizontal edges)
2) scale to fit horizontally (creates slight letter box)
