    Ok the scenario is as follows…

    I have a new Intel Power Mac G5 with 2.8Ghz octocore.
    This is a brand new replacement from the Apple Store after my other one had a problem they could not repair. (The Apple Care Protection Plan really paid for itself this time).

    I re-installed Final Cut Studio 2 and everything else I needed to get the system working and the only issue I seem to have is when I go into Live Type 2 and add a texture background, nothing shows up.

    Even if I open a previous IPR file that had the graph paper texture in it nothing is there.

    According to the answer I received in the Live Type forum (https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/73/855578) this has to do with the update to QT 7.4.5.

    First of all has anyone else seen this?

    Second, if this is true how do I downgrade the system to QT 7.4.1 and FCP 6.0.2?

    [Steve Cohen] “Second, if this is true how do I downgrade the system to QT 7.4.1 and FCP 6.0.2?”

    Only way to downgrade is to do a complete system reinstall. But the issue is that Apple, in it’s INFINITE wisdom, doesn’t keep a lot of the older versions of the software updates online. So you might be able to find the FCP 7.4.1 installer on their site, but the 6.0.2 updater isn’t there. Only 6.0.3 Pro Apps update. This is why it is wise to download the standalone updaters.

    And to not update unless something is broken that needs fixing. And to always always ALWAYS clone your system drive BEFORE you update anything, so you can go back to what you had before you updated when things go wrong. I know, information comes a little late, but we spout this stuff all the time. I guess we need to have this information at hand so when an update occurs, we can post it as a warning when the updates are released.

    Shane;

    I agree with you and I always do clone my systems before I update them, but as I stated this was a fresh install of everything on a brand new Power PC G5 with Leopard and there really was no baseline to backup.

    I installed 6.0 from the DVD’s I had and then knowing that my other systems had 6.0.2 and no application updates have come through for them I did the update on this system, thinking it would go to 6.0.2 as well.

    I was able to find a link for QT 7.4.1 as well as FCP 6.0.2.

    Would I just delete the 2 applications and the re-install from the stand alone?

    Quicktime isn’t really a stand alone application, as much as a very embedded system resource. You cannot simply trash the application and then reinstall it. No, you have to remove ALL of the components. People have had success using Pacifist to do this, but others, like myself, have not. It just messed up my system, but I will post the link on how to use it just in case you want to try.

    FCP also installs MANY components throughout the system, and again, there is a removal app that works for some, not for others. The BEST thing to do is reinstall the OS and applications, if you want to ensure a working system. But, in case you want to try:

    As for the FCP 6.0.2 link…that leads back to the ProApps update, that gets you to 6.0.3. So it might SAY 6.0.2, but it isn’t. That link has…stupidly…been removed.

    Yes I found that out for myself. Thanks.

    So basically apple gave me a new system that I can’t use because if I reformat and re-install everything the most current version of FCP I can get with out going to the pro apps 6.0.3 update would be 6.0 from the DVD’s.

    If I do that then the room is not compatible with my other suites which all have 6.0.2 and anything done in the other suites can not be opened in this room.

    If anyone has the 6.0.2 update and would like to make it available that would be greatly appreciated.

    Shane;

    Thanks for the assistance, but I found it through another source.

    I went to the Final Cut forum on the Apple site and someone there had it and I’m downloading it as we speak.

    Again thanks for everything and I hope the uninstall software works.

    Ok;

    The suggestion above sis not work, Thanks anyway Shane.

    So I reformatted and re-installed Leopard and everything else.

    Downloaded and installed QT 7.4.1 for Leopard.

    I’ve run the software updater and installed Pro Application Support 2007-1 and and right now I am sitting at FCP 6.0.

    How do I get from there to FCP 6.0.2 I tried running the standalone installer that I found and downloaded, but it will not run I get a message saying…

    “You cannot install Final Cut Pro Update on this volume. You must install this software on a disk with Pro Application Update 2007-02 or higher.”

    How do I do that ???

    Help.

    Thanks in advance

    Yeah…the FCP and other pro apps updates are all tied to ProApp updates. FCP 6.0.3 was odd because it was a part of the ProApps update, instead of the update being a separate thing.

    e-mail me…I can get you the ProApps updates. They are small.

    Thanks again Shane, but I posted before I thought.

    I checked for more update after I wrote this post and there was a large Mac OSX update that I downloaded and installed alond with a couple of small things that said they fixed Final Cut issues and after that I was able to install the 6.0.2 updates.

    Thanks again it was late and I wasn’t thinking clearly.

    Hi Steve,

    Just saw this post – I got Apple to ftp the 6.0.2 update since it is offline. However they didn’t send me the
    ProApps Update 2007-02 to make it work.

    Do you still have this at hand.

    Thanks
