Maybe this is a stupid question, so I apologize in advance…..

I edited an HDV (with AspectHD) program. Looks great. Love it.

Now I want to create a DV version. Certainly I don’t want to re-capture everything again with the downconverter turned on my Z1U.

I tried making a new DV project in PPro and then importing the HDV project, then simply placing the HDV timeline on the DV timeline. Everything on that works except it’s taking the center 720×480 out of the 1440×1080 HDV. Even if I turn on “Scale Video on import” it takes the center-punch.

Scaling under “Effect Controls” doesn’t do anything either. It just shrink the center-punch.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have no problem scaling the HDV footage in a DV project, but I have Aspect HD and I suppose that could make a difference.

If you capture a short HDV clip, and then import just the one clip into a new DV project, can you scale it down OK?

I also have AspectHD — Great plugin.

If I import and use just the HDV clip, it works fine — I can either use scale to shrink it down to 720×480 or use the “Size Clip” in project settings to do it for me.

However, if I import the HDV project, then select the timeline in the HDV project and place THAT on the DV timeline, then it doesn’t work. Both of the above ways fail. In fact, if you look at the properties of the HDV timeline, it says 720×480. It should say 1440×1080.

Any ideas? I cannot be the first person who has shot in HDV then wanted to create a DV version of my HDV program……

    Thanks for the help!

I have never done it that way I guess. I have exported out a new CIneform AVI and used it in a DV project. And I have moved all of the captured clips over, but never impoirted the project. I am away from my editing PC this week, so I can not experiment.

Do you simply need a DV clip? You can export a DV video file right from the Aspect timeline. Just did that today in fact…
