What does the Discovery Channel use to downconvert their programs to SD? Is it a hardware downconvert, a software downconvert, or what? The downconverts for Deadliest Catch and Dirty Jobs look great. What are they using?

    Thanks,

I can only guess…but I’d say Terranex, or just the deck they are playing from…if DISCOVERY does the downconvert. I delivered shows to discovery and we are required to deliver an HDCAM SR master, and a digibeta master. We delivered the HDCAM SR masters to a post facility to have them dubbed with closed captioning embedded, HDCAM SR master and a digibeta downconvert. Most often they just use the deck to do the downconvert.
